The new team photo has been sitting on your phone for weeks. The current menu is a PDF in your inbox. Both should have been on the website long ago, but for that you would have to log in, open an editor, crop the image and upload it somewhere.
With Theo you just send the file in the chat.
What you send Theo
Anything that should go on your website and comes from you:
- Photos, for example of the team, the shop or a project.
- Logos, ideally as a vector file or as a PNG with a transparent background.
- PDFs, such as a menu, a price list or a brochure.
You add one sentence saying what should happen with it. For example: "New team photo, please put it on the About page, replacing the old one." Or: "This is the new menu, please link it at the top of the page."
What Theo makes of it
Theo first checks whether the file is good enough: is it sharp enough, is it intact, does it fit the spot on the page? After that he does three things:
- Optimise. The image is cropped and shrunk so that the page stays fast and the photo still looks good.
- Place. Theo puts it where you said, in the design of your website.
- Add alt text. Every image gets a short description. It helps people using a screen reader and search engines. Why that is part of being found is explained in the post SEO for small businesses: what really matters.
After that you get the link to the page. A photo or a new section takes 4 to 8 minutes.
Videos: a link instead of a file
Videos do not belong on the website as a file, they make it slow. Upload the video to YouTube or Vimeo, "unlisted" works too, and send Theo the link. He embeds it where you want it.
A question instead of guessing
If it is not clear where an image should go, Theo does not guess. He asks briefly and makes you a suggestion, for example: "I would put it in as the team picture on About us, replacing the current one. Does that work?" You answer "yes", and it is done.
For photos with recognisable people he also asks whether the people shown agree to being published. That protects you.
Theo does not make up images and does not take any from the web. Only what you send ends up on the page.
And if something does not fit?
If the image is too small or blurry, Theo tells you in one sentence and suggests what to send instead. And if you do not like the result, you write "undo" and the page is back to how it was. How Theo checks every change is in the post What Theo checks before anything goes live.
What this looks like in practice
One example of how far this can go is the project Website maintenance via chat (WordPress): a website maintained through a chat, without anyone opening a back end. And Servige added more than 100 products themselves, via Telegram. More in the post A website you maintain on Telegram.

The three steps from message to link are under How it works. More about Theo is on the Theo page. If you want to see how a photo lands on your site in minutes, request a demo. The post Why a small change to your website should not take a week fits here too.
